No. Dips are optional, and you’re welcome to stay in the heat for the whole session. If you do fancy a dip, the lake is a few steps from the sauna and our team supervises lake access throughout. You choose how long you spend in the water.

Yes. Our sessions are beginner level and nobody needs any experience. Arrive a few minutes early to change and bring a towel to sit on. Our team is at the jetty throughout, and the dip is optional, so you can stay in the heat if you’d rather.

Fifty minutes for Sauna & Wild Swim, Full Moon & Light-Up, Female Only, Calm Sauna and Soma Breathwork. Guided Sauna with Claire, Wild Swim and private hire are an hour, and Qigong & Sauna is an hour of Qigong followed by fifty minutes of sauna and swim. How you share the time between the heat and the lake is up to you.

A maximum of eight on a public session, so everyone has their own space in the sauna and at the lake.

Swimwear, two towels (one to sit on in the sauna), warm layers and a change of clothes for afterwards, and footwear for the jetty. A warm drink for after is a good idea too. Towels and swimwear aren’t provided.

Sessions are for ages 16 and over. If you’re 16 or 17, you need to come with a responsible adult.

Yes. On every session, our team supervises lake access from the jetty throughout.

Yes. The lake is spring-fed and our wild swimming runs all year round, not just in summer. Bring warm layers for afterwards, and the wood-fired sauna is a few steps away. Swim-only sessions have their own page.

Yes. There are toilets, changing areas and a cold shower on site. Arrive a few minutes early so you can change before your session starts.

Park at TCR Hub and follow the signs from the main car park down to the lake jetty, where the sauna is. We’re at TCR Hub, Shaw Bank, Barnard Castle, DL12 8TD.

The same fifty minutes of wood-fired sauna and optional lake dips, with festoon lights, themed music, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows at the jetty. Full Moon dates follow the lunar calendar, and Light-Up evenings run on other nights. Both book as the Full Moon & Light-Up session.

Yes to both. If you’re coming with friends, you can book several places together on a public session when places are free. Private hire gives your group the sauna and the jetty to yourselves for 60 minutes, for up to 10 guests. Message us on WhatsApp to ask about it.

Yes. Gift vouchers are bought online through our booking window. You can buy sauna passes online too, or by WhatsApp or phone.

Cancel at least 72 hours before your session and you get a full refund. Inside 72 hours we can’t promise a refund, but we’ll try to move you to another session. Message us on WhatsApp with the dates that suit you and we’ll do what we can.

If you’re unsure whether sauna heat or open water suits you, for example because of pregnancy, a heart condition or blood pressure, check with your GP before you book.

No alcohol or smoking in or around the sauna, and only swimwear is worn in the sauna.
